Clinton Men almost upset Hudson Valley 3-4 in Overtime

Plattsburgh- Clinton Men lost 4-3 in overtime to Hudson Valley CC. Hudson Valley is the top ranked team in region and has an 11-1-1 record.

Hudson Valley led 2-1 at the half. Derrick Ratliff got tripped from behind and scored on a penalty kick.

“We started the second half a little slow. Then late in the second half we pushed Kade Sewell and he created some havoc.” said Coach Eric Arnold. Sewell scored twice in two minutes to tie the game at three. Corey Davidson and Derrick Ratliff had the assists.

The winning goal in overtime was scored by John Laforest. Clinton goalie William Simonetti could not stop the low hard shot from 15 yards out.

Coach Arnold said, “I am really proud of the way the guys responded. It was a great effort against a very good team, a quality team. Our keeper (SImonetti) was phenomenal today. He had several spectacular saves.”

Clinton will travel to North Country CC on Tuesday.
