Clinton Women's Basketball Preview
Friday, October 31, 2008
Clinton Lady Cougars returns three players from last year and has more height this year. Coach Donna Dixon said, “I think we definitely have more talent and more depth than last year," Dixon said. "The freshmen coming in have added a lot of depth. It's just a matter of how long it takes to learn to play together as a team. The seven freshmen are learning a whole new system, and it takes some time to get confident. "But we're ahead of where we were last year, and that's all we can ask for.
Returners include Krissy Bullock , Brittany Barney and Danielle McNeil. Barney from Lake Placid will run the point. McNeil will be a guard and 5’9 Bullock will play forward.
Jasmine Miller of Winooski, Vermont will play on the wing and is 5’9. Sami Stoughton from Saranac is a physical player and and boxes out well. She works very hard according to Dixon.
Bethany Leroux and Brittany Godreau are both good shooters and strong players.
“We're going to be quick and get after it defensively," Dixon said. "We're very fast. We'll be looking to play a high-tempo game, getting up and down the floor as quick as we can. Defensively, I'm hoping to get after it and play a good, hard pressure man-to-man, get some turnovers
Other players joining the Lady Cougars this year include, Jordan Clark, Sacha Cleary, and Tera Coasts.
Clinton opens their season tonight against Word of Life Institute.
