CCC Women defeated by Genesee CC in playoffs

Batavia- Clinton CC Women lost to host Genesee Community College in the opening round of the NJCAA Region III Soccer Tournament. GCC won 5-2.

“It was much closer than the score indicates. It was 3-2 for the longest while in the second half and they scored two in transition in the last 10 minutes after we brought everybody up.” said Coach Donna Dixon.

Emily Lashway scored both goals for CCC.

“It was a beautiful goal. Emily ran onto it at the tip of the 18 and one-touched it before the keeper and defender got there.” according to Dixon.

Lashway’s second goal was assisted by Kim Dragoon.

“Kelly Lucia made some really nice saves to keep us in the game. Our girls played hard. We had to make some adjustments at halftime to counter their speed and we had our chances.” said Dixon.

“Assistant Coach Mel Defayette did a wonderful job with our back four. They played excellent today.”

Clinton finished the season 9-8-1.
