CCC men win over Schenectady 64-62

Monday, November 16, 2009

Plattsburgh- The Clinton Men’s basketball team defeat Schenectady CC 64-62. The Cougars are 4-0 and 3-0 in Region III, 2-0 in MVC. Clinton trailed by 12 in the first half but came back for the win.

“As poorly as we played in the first half, we played great in the second half. But it was a game. Once we took the lead, we never gave it up, but it was tied a couple of times.” said Coach Kevin Daugherty.

The game was tied at 62 with 15 seconds left. SCC had the ball but the pass was intercepted by Anthony Hodge. Hodge went on a 2 on 1 breakaway and passed it Shareem Hardy who made the layup.

SCC called a time out with 3.5 seconds left and CCC player Julio Garcia deflected the inbound pass. SCC was still able to get a shot off but time expired.

“It got some of the rim. They got too good of a look at the basket with that amount of time left.” according to Daugherty.

Garcia finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Stephane Alexander had 12 points and 9 rebounds. Hardy had 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

CCC travels to Adirondack CC on Monday for a 7pm game.
