Clinton has a big win over rival NCCC 73-59
Monday, January 22, 2007
Clinton men won over the number 5 ranked Region III team, North Country 73-59 on Saturday. Coach Kevin Daugherty said, “The group that we started tonight is 3-0 since the start of the semester.” Clinton’s newest players Kyle Stark and Ryan Earle along with returners Philip Barnes, Mario Lopez and Matt Duanais all worked hard for the win. Barnes had 23 points and had 12 rebounds. Stark added 16 points, 7 rebounds and Earle had 12 points and had 6 assists. Coach Daugherty said,”Barnes wants to win. He is much more concerned with winning that he is with his stats. Both Stark and Earle are really good passers and Barnes is able to slash and get more field goals, and is relying less on the 3 point shot.” Coach Daugherty had high praise for former Saranac Lake standout Matthew Daunais. “Daunais does a lot of dirty work for us. He is a great role player and is very tough defensively. He gets to the loose balls, plays hard and is a smart player.” “Right now, we are 10th in our Region and they take 10 to the tournament. Every game is a big one for us if we want to win.” Said Daugherty. . (photo by Maureen Provost) Phil Barnes is held by a North Country player while Matthew Daunaislooks on.
