Sheriff David Favro and Kevin Zaumetzer

Plattsburgh, N.Y. __ Clinton Community College graduate Kevin Zaumetzer is the recipient of the 2009 New York State Sheriffs’ Association Annual Scholarship. The $500 criminal justice scholarship was presented to Zaumetzer, of Ausable Forks, by Clinton County Sheriff, David Favro at a luncheon held in his honor at the college. Also in attendance were Kevin’s mother Cindi Murphy, President John Jablonski, V.P. for Acacemic Affairs, Cheryl Regan, Associate Professors Catherine Eloranto, Christopher Drennan and Major Bob Craig

A graduate of Ausable Valley Central School, Zaumetzer said the College Advancement Program (CAP) was a big influence on his decision to attend Clinton. He said his experience has been great since day one. "I appreciate the opportunities given to me at CCC to succeed, to go beyond with a good understanding of Criminal Justice and the tools to be successful, said Zaumetzer. "I thank everyone at the college for helping to make it happen." He added, "I loved it here." During this past year, Zaumetzer completed an internship with the Plattsburgh City Police Department and he has plans to transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh to pursue a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.

John Mockry, CCC professor and Criminal Justice Program department chair, nominated Zaumetzer for the award. "Kevin, or "K.Z." as he is nicknamed, is one of the finest individuals to ever graduate from the criminal justice program since I have worked here, beginning in 1995," expressed Mockry.  "K.Z. possesses skills of a high caliber in terms of academic fortitude, effective inter-personal skills, and some good old common sense.  All three, especially the latter, will serve him quite well as he pursues a career in criminal justice as a law enforcer. He is indeed, an outstanding and most deserving recipient of the 2009 Sheriff's Scholarship Award."

During this past year, Zaumetzer completed an internship with the Plattsburgh City Police Department and he has plans to transfer to SUNY Plattsburgh to pursue a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
