Plattsburgh, NY_ John E. Jablonski, president of Clinton Community College (CCC), Dr. Barry W. Mack, director of Champlain Valley – Technical Education Center (CV-TEC), , Dr. Cheryl Reagan, vice president for academic affairs, James R. McCartney, principal, CV-TEC, Peter Grosskopf, director of Continuing Education at CCC, and Garry Douglas, president of the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce were at Clinton Community College for the signing of a new articulation agreement between the two institutions that encourages academic cooperation and establishes guidelines for granting college credit for coursework performed by Technician Candidates in the CV-TEC Plattsburgh Aeronautical Institute (PAI).

The objectives of the agreement would attract qualified students to both Clinton Community College’s Individual Studies Program and to CV-TEC’s Plattsburgh Aeronautical Institute. Students wishing to pursue a career in the aviation technology would be provided the specific information they need. The agreement helps to assure the academic coordination between faculty, students, and administrator’s at each institution and to promote efficient transfer of qualified graduates from CV-TEC to CCC. Qualified students graduating from the PAI program who hold Federal Aviation Administration certification as an Airframe & Powerplant Technician will be provided articulated credit.

"One of the important aspects of this agreement is that CCC will award 36 free elective credits to technician candidates who have successfully completed PAI and have obtained Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification as an Airframe & Powerplant Technician," said Dr. Cheryl Reagan. "Students will only have to complete 24 more credits for their Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S) degree in Individual Studies. This is a great opportunity to combine technical aspects for a career and the general education for the degree and possible further study."

Dr. Barry Mack stated, "The mission of CV-TEC is to provide students with successful careers in life long learning, including post secondary education. This milestone event in the development of PAI aligns with that mission. This articulation agreement offers 36 credits from CCC for successful CV-TEC PAI graduates who pass their national FAA licensing exam. The New York State Education Department has approved the PAI curriculum with high school students also able to earn integrated academic credits in mathematics, science and English. PAI will open September 8 with both high school and adult students enrolled." He said, "Graduates will be encouraged to complete their associate’s degree at CCC."

"This articulation agreement is a great example of the kinds of things that we can accomplish by working together," said President Jablonski. "The Chamber of Commerce has a bold and progressive vision for workforce development in our region. CV-TEC is ready to begin training high-tech employees according to international standards. And now Clinton Community College can help those students to use their industry credentials to satisfy more than half the requirements for an associate’s degree."
