CCC Hosts Winter Commencement for Class of 2004                               

PLATTSBURGH, NEW YORK – Over 170 graduating students are eligible to receive associate degrees and certificates at Clinton Community College's Winter Commencement ceremony this Friday, December 17, 2004, at 4:00 p.m.  The ceremony will be held in the gymnasium of the William H. Forrence Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center. 

 

Clinton Community College Interim President, Dr. Agnes Pearl is presiding over the College's winter commencement exercises. Michael Helinger, Professor of Mathematics, was chosen as Faculty Marshal and will lead the graduation procession carrying the ceremonial Mace.

 

Greetings to graduates will be extended by Nina D. Coolidge, Chair of the Clinton Community College Board of Trustees, and Jacqueline Walker, a member of the Clinton County Legislature and liaison to the College. Christopher Ford, Professor Business/Technology, will extend greetings to the graduates on behalf of the Faculty Council.

 

The Student Speaker is Debra A. Sovay, valedictorian for of the Class of 2004. She will receive a degree in Human Services.  Marie Madeleine Wass is class salutatorian, graduating with a degree in Math/Science.  Brian Chesney, president of the Student Senate will present the members of the 2004 graduating class to President Pearl.

   

CCC student Jordan Phinney will sing the National Anthem. A solo selection entitled, For Good, by Stephen Schwartz will be sung by members of the College Chorale, under the direction of Saundra Stortz and accompanied by Meghan Bosley. 

 

Dr. James Brazil, vice president for academic affairs, will present this year's candidates for graduation. The December Class of 2004, the largest group to graduate in the winter, has twenty-seven students graduating with honors and eleven students graduating with high honors.

 

Additional information on the Clinton Community College December 2004 graduating class will be available at the winter commencement. Refreshments immediately following the ceremony are compliments of the CCC Alumni Association and the College.
