CCC Student Receives the 2006 Sheriff’s Association Scholarship

Plattsburgh, N.Y. __ Clinton Community College student Wendy Nantasaeng, of Merrill, received the 2006 New York State Sheriffs’ Association Annual Scholarship. The $500 criminal justice scholarship was presented to Nantasaeng by Clinton County Sheriff, David Favro at a luncheon held in her honor at the College.John Mockry, CCC associate professor and coordinator of the criminal justice program, nominated Nantasaeng for the award. " Wendy has demonstrated her numerous abilities through high academic excellence, extensive involvement in campus and community activities through the Criminal Justice Club, and with a most connective, engaging personality, said Mockry. Wendy was without a doubt one of the best and most enjoyable students I have ever had the pleasure of working with here at Clinton Community College. I have little doubt, that Plattsburgh State University will be the next beneficiary of her numerous talents as I know that she will get the job done there as well. "
Nantasaeng graduated from Clinton Community College in May with a degree in criminal justice. In addition, she graduated with High Honors, was vice president of the CCC Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the National Honor Society of the Two-Year College and was named to the All-New York Academic Team for Community Colleges. Nantasaeng plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a career in law enforcement.The New York State Sheriffs’ Association Annual Scholarship is presented to one full-time criminal justice student at each community college in the state of New York.
