Dr. Leibo to present An Inconvenient Truth at CCC
Tuesday, April 10, 2007
On Monday April 30 Clinton Community College will host a live presentation of the slide show that is the basis of the Academy Award winning movie, An Inconvenient Truth. Our presenter will be Dr. Steven Leibo, Director of the International Studies Program at Russell Sage College. Dr. Leibo is one of a highly select group of individuals, accomplished in their fields and well connected in their communities who were personally and intensively trained by Al Gore and climate scientist, Richard Alley. Dr Alley is the author of The Two Mile Time Machine: Ice Cores, Abrupt Climate Change and Our Future. His work is featured in the slide show and the film.
An Inconvenient Truth carefully presents the extensive evidence that climate change is real and that it is caused by human activity. The slide show demonstrates that carbon dioxide levels rise in response to specific human activity and that there is a strong correlation between carbon dioxide levels and global temperature. Finally, there is an examination of the current and potential consequences of global climate change. As this is a live presentation, there will be the opportunity for audience members to ask questions.
Dr. Leibo in addition to holding the position of Director of the International Studies Program at Russell Sage College, is a Professor of Modern Global History and Politics. He is a former Fulbright scholar. He is the author of numerous scholarly and popular works. Dr. Leibo may be best known in the North Country for his commentaries on WAMC Public Radio.
This live presentation of An Inconvenient Truth will be at noon, April 30, in the Stafford Center Theater. This event is free and open to the public.
