National Players to do Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at CCC
Friday, October 26, 2007
National Players, America’s longest running touring company, returns to Clinton Community College on Thursday, November first for one performance only with William Shakespeare’s timeless comedy Twelfth Night.
Twelfth Night, Shakespeare’s comedy of mistaken identities, misdirected passions, unrequited love, fools, reveling, and madness is set in the Regency period and uses everyday items to dress the characters.
During the tour, National Players will travel more than 23,000 miles, play in 30 states, and perform in approximately 100 different venues. With actors from Mississippi to Vermont, Tour 59 presents a diverse group of young talent for the tour. “This group of players is very exciting to watch, not only are they full of talent, they also have an energy, vitality, and humor that helps translate these classical texts,” said company director Clay Hopper.
CCC Drama Club Advisor, Bonnie Black, noted that the club is proud to host the National Players on the college campus again. “Two years ago we were included in their national tour and our students thoroughly enjoyed meeting the actors and working with them for their performance. It gives the students a true hands-on with ‘real’ working actors – just a few years older than they. It is a unique opportunity we can present to our students.”
Tickets will be available at the door on Thursday, November first beginning at 6:30pm. Tickets are $5 for general public, $3 for seniors and students with CCC students admitted at no charge with a valid ID.
