CCC Hosts Winter Commencement for Class of 2007

PLATTSBURGH, NEW YORK Clinton Community College's Winter Commencement will take place on Friday, December 14, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. Over 100 graduates are eligible to receive associate degrees and certificates at the ceremony to be held in the gymnasium of the William H. Forrence Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center.


Dr. Frederick W. Woodward, CCC officer in charge, will officiate at the commencement exercises. Andrew Andermatt, assistant professor of humanities, was chosen faculty marshal by the Faculty Council and will lead the graduation procession carrying the ceremonial Mace.


Nina D. Coolidge, chair of the CCC Board of Trustees, will give greetings to the graduates. Coolidge will also make a special presentation to honored guest, James E. Keable, Esq. for his 43 years of service to the college. Jackie Walker will extend greetings to the graduates on behalf of the Clinton County Legislators. Catherine Eloranto, associate professor in criminal justice, will represent the Faculty Council and extend greetings to this year’s graduates. Donavin Williams, Brooklyn, NY, will address his fellow students as president of the Student Senate.


Roxanne Downs, of Mooers Forks is the Class of 2007 valedictorian and student speaker for the winter commencement ceremony. Downs will receive her degree in Business Administration. Brandy Duval, of Plattsburgh, is the Class of 2007 salutatorian. Duval will receive her degree in Computer Information Systems.


Jennifer Waite, interim vice president for academic affairs, will present the candidates for graduation. The December Class of 2007 has 29 students graduating with honors; eight will graduate Cum Laude, nine Magna cum laude and 12 Suma cum laude. Twenty-four students are members of Phi Theta Kappa the National Honor Society of the Two-Year College.


Music for the ceremony will be performed by the CCC College Chorale under the direction of Saundra Stortz and accompanied by Meghan Riley. Soloist, Deanna J. Matt will sing the National anthem.
