Description:

The Criminal Justice degree program is a comprehensive curriculum dealing with the broad field of criminal justice, including areas such as law enforcement, corrections, and the courts. While prepar ing the student for work in many areas of criminal justice, the cur riculum also includes basic college courses applicable to four-year degree programs. Students in this curriculum can prepare for a career in law enforce ment corrections, investigation, security, administration, and social work. This curriculum supplements the specific training of agencies involved in criminal justice operations.


Program Mission:

The Criminal Justice Department at Clinton Community College offers a program leading to the Applied Associates Degree. Within the stated mission of the College, the mission of the Criminal Justice Department is to provide educational opportunities and experiences preparing students for employment in some areas of Criminal Justice. The program also provides the basis of further education leading into careers in other social science related disciplines.


Program Goals:

The program will:

  • prepare students to have a thorough knowledge of the components of the criminal justice system and how they interact with each other.
  • prepare students for successful employment in the field of criminal justice or related fields.
  • prepare students to apply analytical skills and substantive knowledge to specific justice problems.
  • prepare students to communicate effectively.
