Interlibrary Loan Service

WHAT is Interlibrary Loan? Interlibrary Loan (I.L.L.) is the process by which a library requests materials from another library. The purpose of Interlibrary Loan is to provide access for our patrons to materials not owned by the Douglas Library. If the material needed is owned by SUNY Plattsburgh's Feinberg Library or by the Plattsburgh Public Library, please go directly to these libraries for the material.

WHO
is eligible for this service? Interlibrary Loan service is available to all Clinton Community College students, faculty and staff.

WHERE
can I request an Interlibrary Loan? Interlibrary Loan request forms are available at the Reference Desk. Please ask a reference librarian for assistance. You can submit an I.L.L. request online through ICEPAC, a catalog of items in Northern New York libraries, or through the SUNY Union Catalog, a catalog of items in SUNY libraries. You can also fill out I.L.L. forms directly from the Douglas Library's Interlibrary Loan webpage. Please go to the following webpage for I.L.L. forms and for instructions on how to request I.L.L. materials online using ICEPAC or the SUNY Union Catalog:

HOW MUCH does it cost? The Douglas Library always attempts to borrow materials from other libraries who agree not to charge each other fees. However, some lenders charge fees. For I.L.L. materials related to academic research, the Douglas Library will cover a reasonable processing fee assigned by a lending library if the materials are not available for free.

WHEN
can I expect to receive interlibrary loan materials? The time frame varies, depending upon the availability of the item, but in general, please allow at least two weeks for the receipt of any I.L.L. materials. Patrons will be notified by email, mail or phone when their items have been received. Materials can be picked up at the circulation desk. Patrons must sign for any I.L.L. books they receive. Photocopies of articles become the property of the requester.

HOW LONG
can I keep Interlibrary Loan materials? The lending library determines the loan period and the conditions of the loan. Generally, the loan period for a book is 3 to 4 weeks. Any requests for renewal of I.L.L. materials should be made PRIOR to the due date.
