Economics Bibliographic Instruction


I. FINDING BOOKS USING THE LIBRARY’S CATALOG 
    A. From the Douglas Library homepage, click on the Library Catalog link. 
    B. In the “Type word or phrase” box, enter your search terms, then click the [Go] button.

II. FINDING PERIODICAL ARTICLES USING ONLINE DATABASES 
    ACCESSING THE LIBRARY DATABASES 
    A. From the Douglas Library homepage, click on the Online Periodicals (Databases) link. 
    B. Your username and password are the same as those used to access the CCC computers. 

    A. BUSINESS SOURCE PREMIER 
        1. Click blue “Advanced Search” tab at top of screen. 
        2. Enter search terms. 
        3. Under “Limit your results,” check the boxes for “Full Text” and “Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals.” 
        4. Click the [Search] button. 

    B. ABI/INFORM 
        1. Three ABI/Inform databases are available. All three can be searched simultaneously. 
            * Dateline (local, state and regional business news) 
            * Global (worldwide information) 
            * Trade & Industry (specific industries, marketing, products, etc). 
        2. Click on any ABI/Inform database. You will be taken to the ProQuest databases page. 
        3. Click “Clear all databases,” select the databases you want to use, then click the yellow [Continue] button. 
        4. Click on the “Advanced Search” tab near the top of the screen. 
        5. Enter your search terms. 
        6. Next to “Limit results to,” click the boxes marked “Full-text documents only” and “Scholarly journals, including peer-reviewed.” 
        7. Click the [Search] button. 

    C. BUSINESS & COMPANY RESOURCE CENTER 
        1. Click on the [Advanced Search] icon and enter your search terms. 
        2. Under “Limit to,” check the boxes for “Full-text articles” and “Peer-reviewed journals.” 
        3. Click on the [Search] button. 

        1. To do a company search, click “Company.” 
        2. Enter the company name or symbol in the box marked “Company Name or Ticker Symbol.” 
        3. Click “Search.” 
        4. Select the correct company. 

    D. FINDING ARTICLES ON CURRENT EVENTS: Newspapers 
        1. From the Online Resources (Databases) page, click on the “Databases by Format” link. 
        2. Access the newspaper databases by clicking the links under the “Newspapers” heading.

III. FINDING INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET 
    A. ECONOMICS INTERNET RESOURCES 
        1. From the Douglas Library homepage, click on the Resources by Subject link. 
        2. Click the “Economics” link in the navigation bar. 
        3. Under “Internet Resources,” click “Economics.” 

    B. ECONOMIC STATISTICS & GRAPHS (All available from Economics Page, CCC)
